چکیده

In India, about 3.77 million ha of the country's geographical area is affected by sodicity. There an urgent need to minimize further land degradation and restore fertility degraded soils meet growing demand for food. The most effective way overcome salt stress applying nutrients through soil foliar. this context, a field experiment was conducted at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College Research Institute (ADAC & RI), Tiruchirappalli, in summer 2022 study reclamation potential amendments foliar nutrition sodic soil. laid out split-plot design with three replications. treatment comprised viz., M1- Pongamia green leaf manure (GLM) @ 6.25 t ha-1, M2- Pressmud 10 M3-CSR GROMOR 25 kg M4-Gypsum 50 % GR, M5-Gypsum gypsum requirement (GR) + GLM M6-Gypsum GR M7-Gypsum CSR ha-1 M8- Farmers practice, main plots S1- Foliar spray (FS) 3% 30 DAS, S2-FS Brassinosteroid (BRs) 0.2 ppm DAS S3-FS Melatonin 60 sub plots. results showed that ha-1+ FS DAS(M6S2) registered significantly (P=0.05%) lowest pH (8.07), ESP (11.62%), exchangeable Na+ (2.93 c mol (p+) kg-1) higher Ca2+(11.23 kg-1), Mg2+ (8.09 K+(0.82 kg-1). It also increased available (235.6, 24.57 309.6 NPK ha-1) grain yield (1110 gram. However, it on par DAS(M7S2). Hence concluded application along pressmud or combined brassinostroid had remarkable effect reducing sodicity increasing productivity

Applying Biochar and Mineral Amendments to Remediate the Chemical Properties of a Saline-Sodic Soil

The present study was intended to improve the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil using the individual application of alfalfa residue and two biochars produced from sugarcane bagasse and walnut shell, at the weighting ratio of 5%; their concomitant application with gypsum, aluminum sulfate and the mixture of these two chemical amendments was considered. The experiment was conducted in th...

Impact of forest vegetation on soil characteristics: a correlation between soil biological and physico-chemical properties

Temperate and dry deciduous forest covers major portion of terrestrial ecosystem in India. The two forest types with different dominant tree species differ in litter quality and root exudates, thereby exerting species-specific impact on soil properties and microbial activity. This study aims to examine the influence of forest type or dominant tree species on soil physico-chemical properties and...

Improving Soil Physical Indicators by Soil Amendment to a Saline-Sodic Soil

The application of organic amendments can be an appropriate solution to reclaim and improve physical propertiesof saline-sodic soils. In this research, an experiment was performed under greenhouse conditions to study the effect ofamendments to the physical properties of loamy saline-sodic soil. The five treatments were control (withoutamendment), municipal solid waste compost (MC), vermicompost...

The Effect of Different Soil Amendments on Growth of Mung bean (Vigna Radiata L.) in Coal Mine Overburden Dumps

The surface mining activities in the past and in recent times has resulted into existence of number of overburden dumps through excavation and depositing removed soil and rock debris. These dumps require environmental stabilization/restoration, through proper revegetation. To achieve this aim, a study was conducted to find the efficacy of Mung bean (Vigna radiata L.), an economically important ...
